USFCA Scholarship – apply now!

The Division is offering a half-tuition scholarship ($650) towards the 2019 USFCA Coaches Academy. The Academy will be held this year in Rome, Georgia from 7/28-8/4. For further details on the program, please visit:

Any coach or aspiring coach whose USA Fencing membership is held in the Metropolitan division is welcome to apply.

To apply for the scholarship, submit a letter to the Division chair, by 7/1/2019.  Recipient will be notified by 7/5.

  • Give a brief history of your fencing experience
  • Explain why you deserve or need a scholarship and what will you do with the knowledge that you gain from the Coaches Academy
  • Tell us what kinds of activities you are doing to promote fencing in your school or community
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from your head coach or program supervisor. If you are the head coach of a private club, a letter from one of your students will be acceptable

2016-17 season schedules due

Season schedules are due on Monday, August 1. Clubs wishing to request sanctioned events should follow the procedure here to submit their requests.

Beginning on Sept. 1, 2016, all USA Fencing sanctioned events must have at least one rated referee. All tournament officials must be compliant with the USA Fencing Safe Sport Policy, including maintaining a current background check. In addition, all officials must complete the free, online Safe Sport Training Course by Jan. 1, 2017.

All participants are required to take online test at before or after attending the seminar and will have the chance to be observed during the NJ Summer National Qualifier at Cobra Fencing Club on 4/30-5/1/16. Check with Abdel the day of the clinic to sign up your name for the practical exam.
